With April in full swing, it’s time to look at what Xbox has to offer with its gaming subscription, Xbox Game Pass. This month, we’ve taken a look at what the service offers and curated a list that focuses on the single-player experience. With games like Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077, and Avowed.

With all the games that we’ve picked, you’ll definitely be busy for hours on end with all sorts of gripping stories. One worth noting is that Xbox Game Pass offers various subscription tiers that provide access to different games. So, navigating what to play can be tricky based on what you’re subscribed to. For example, Xbox Essential is $10 a month, Xbox Premium is $15 a month, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which gives you access to both console and PC games with the option to use cloud gaming on mobile devices, is $30 a month.

To keep things simple, we’ve looked at everything offered in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier. Those subscribed to other tiers, such as Essential or Premium, may not have full access to the list of games we’ve selected for you to play.

Hades II

It almost feels like Supergiant Giant can’t miss. The first Hades has earned a spot in “One of my all-time favorite video games.” Even though I’m not all that far in Hades II, this is rapidly earning a spot in that list already. Even though you can technically beat the game fairly quickly, it’s about the journey and getting to know everyone around you that makes Hades II so compelling. Not only that, but you’ll also die a lot… So getting to the end is often easier said than done, and finding out what works for you is half the fun. Even if you don’t know much about the game, all you have to know is that you play as Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld, and your goal is to fight and kill everything standing between you and the surface. This includes many Greek gods and other spirits.

Starfield

You know what’s better than killing Greek Gods? Flying across the cosmos and getting into all sorts of shenanigans. In Starfield, you can do just that, and with the Free Lanes update, now is the best time to get back into it or try it out for the first time. In short, the update adds new story beats, quality-of-life changes, and much more. If you don’t know much about Starfield, in it you play as a member of the Constellation, who are basically a group of space Indiana Jones. Throughout the course of the main story, you slowly uncover a cosmic mystery.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is another game that has earned a spot on my list of “One of my all-time favorite video games.” From a purely aesthetic standpoint, the game is gorgeous, with a fantastic photomode that you’re bound to spend a lot of time in (I know I did). On top of that, the story is perhaps one of the most compelling ones I’ve played in any video game. I’m purposely being vague because it’s better to experience it firsthand than to be told about it. Since you are saving some money on the base game, I’d suggest investing in the game a bit with its expansion, Phantom Liberty.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Over the last couple of years, I’ve become deeply invested in the Like a Dragon series. There’s something about playing as buff yakuza members who rip off their shirts that is so gripping. When you’re not doing that, they’re doing something extremely goofy, such as helping you go on dates with a ghost. Infinite Wealth, an amalgamation of everything that came before it, does a great job of onboarding new players to everything that is playing out. By the end of the game, you’ll fully understand the emotional impact the game is trying to deliver.

Avowed

I’ll never stop praising Avowed for as long as I’m alive, like Super Giant Obsidian is another studio that can’t be missed. Even though it’s an open-world RPG with all sorts of mysteries waiting to be discovered. The game is extremely respectful of your time and can be beaten in roughly 20 hours. Avowed offers a lot of different ways to play, and it encourages you to experiment with different builds. As I’m writing this, I’m heavily considering another run through the Living Lands and seeing what little things I missed on my latest run.

Halo Infinite

I know Halo Infinite isn’t technically a single-player game because it has online co-op. But that feature wasn’t there at launch, so I’m counting it! That said, playing through this by myself when it first came out was one of the most enjoyable single-player experiences I’ve had. I genuinely felt like Master Chief. This was largely thanks to the game’s open world. Running through Zeta Halo and bringing the USNC back to fighting power was a blast from start to finish. Plus, you get to see more of the Chief’s softer side, which is always a nice bonus.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

When The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered came out, my heart grew three times its size, and that’s because I sank an unbelievable amount of time into it as a kid. I’m happy to report I’ve done the same thing as an adult now. The remake is extremely faithful to the 2009 remake, and running through the world of Cyrodiil with modern-day graphics was something I didn’t know I needed. With so much, you’re bound to spend countless hours getting lost in Oblivion’s world. Besides, what sounds cooler than saving the world by storming the gates of Hell with an army of knights by your side?
