Wildboy Studios, the team behind ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree and Nitro Kid, has officially unveiled Echo Zero, a new roguelite base defense game coming to PC via Steam.
Announced ahead of its appearance at Frosty Games Fest during Summer Game Fest, Echo Zero combines base building, tower defense, resource management, and co-op gameplay in a hostile sci-fi setting where every run offers new challenges and opportunities.

Build, Defend, and Survive Underground
Echo Zero, players take control of expendable clones deployed deep beneath the surface of a collapsing industrial world. The underground biome has been overtaken by a spreading organism, and containment is rapidly failing. Overseen by a controlling AI, players must venture deeper into increasingly unstable zones while gathering resources, constructing defenses, and surviving relentless attacks.
Each run alternates between exploration, resource collection, base expansion, and defensive battles. Players can strengthen their outposts with automated droids, turrets, and other technologies while preparing for escalating enemy waves.

Procedural Runs and Flexible Strategies
The game’s roguelite structure emphasizes experimentation and replayability. Every run takes place in a procedurally generated underground environment, with randomized upgrades, mutations, weapons, and technologies encouraging different approaches to survival.
Players can focus on heavily fortified defenses, aggressive combat builds, or automation-driven strategies that rely on droids and advanced systems to hold the line. Persistent progression between runs provides additional long-term goals while maintaining the unpredictability of each expedition.

Solo or Co-op Survival
Echo Zero supports both single-player and online co-op play, allowing players to tackle the underground threat alone or alongside friends. The game’s stylized sci-fi presentation blends industrial environments with organic corruption while maintaining visual clarity during large-scale defensive encounters.
No release date has been announced yet, but Echo Zero is currently in development for PC and can be wishlisted on Steam.
