PlayStation Urges PS4 Players to Upgrade to PS5 for GTA 6

Sony seems to have a marketing deal in place for GTA 6, meaning it’s taking advantage of the chance to advertise the open worlder alongside its PS5 console. The hope will be that the game runs perfectly fine on base PS5, and receives some significant resolution and frame rate upgrades on PS5 Pro.

The current 19th November 2026 release date is highlighted in the official messaging, which some fans are taking as confidence there won’t be any more delays. The developer still could push the title into 2027, however. GTA 6 won’t launch for PS4, so a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S will be needed to play it at release.
