The past week in Star Citizen has mostly been about teases and hints, with the usual roadmap roundup providing some early info for the next alpha build and a recent Twitter video promising what looks like a new spin on an annual free fly event.
We’ll start with that roadmap roundup, which puts a pin on some new additions that include the Novia crossbow FPS weapon, another round of visual updates for existing FPS weapons, the new Tailwind flight suit, and the ability to save and claim vehicle loadouts. Once again, these are listed as tentative additions, so actual release timing may vary.
As for that teaser video, we’re getting an in-universe news flash that shares captured footage of Drake Interplanetary CEO Anden Arden, who discusses the UEE Navy’s move of the Invictus Launch Week event to the Sol system and his plans to replace it with DefenseCon, which will open itself up to other manufacturers this time around. What this likely means in gameplay terms is another free fly event, while a chyron graphic also points out ship manufacturer Gatac’s plans to unveil two new ships.
Finally of note for the current game is the release of alpha 4.7.2, which brings nearly 100 new and returning contract missions to the Nyx system, including ship wave attack and boss draw-out missions on top of cargo recovery, bounty hunts, and resource gathering contracts.
