Guwahati, May 9: Future Edge, a Northeast India-based political consultancy and research firm, has launched a “Minister Report Card” series aimed at evaluating the performance of key ministers in the outgoing Assam government during the 2021–2026 tenure.
The move comes days ahead of the formation of Assam’s new ministry under the BJP government.
The initiative seeks to provide a data-driven assessment of ministers based on governance indicators such as policy implementation, infrastructure development, budget utilisation, welfare delivery, constituency performance, public outreach and administrative transparency.
According to the organisation, the report cards are being prepared using government records, field-level data, budget documents, policy analysis and public feedback.
“There is a growing need for structured and independent evaluation in the political landscape. The initiative is aimed at creating a credible benchmark that can serve both as a guide for the incoming ministry and as an informative resource for the people of Assam,” the organisation said in a statement.
Future Edge said the exercise would not remain a one-time initiative and that independent governance tracking reports would be released at the end of every fiscal year to monitor the functioning of key ministries in Assam.
Founded in April 2026, the organisation comprises journalists, political analysts, communication professionals and policy researchers, most of whom are from Northeast India and have previously contributed to national political research organisations, campaign strategy groups and public policy initiatives.
The organisation said the absence of a regionally rooted political consultancy and research platform in the Northeast prompted the launch of Future Edge.
According to the statement, national agencies often fail to fully understand the socio-political realities of the Northeast due to limited long-term engagement with the region and their tendency to become active only during elections.
“Most national agencies operate with an election-centric approach and do not maintain sustained engagement with the Northeast. As professionals from the region, we believe we are better placed to assess political trends, governance patterns, voter sentiment and public expectations with greater depth and accuracy,” the statement added.
The first edition of the Minister Report Card series focuses on Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu. Subsequent editions will assess the performance of other major ministries in the outgoing government.
Future Edge said its approach combines continuous political tracking, regional understanding and multidisciplinary expertise in political research, data analysis, democratic accountability, political communication and public policy.
