Shillong, May 2: Nangkiew Irat SC confirmed their top finish in Group B of the 5th Meghalaya State League (MSL 5) with a commanding 6-1 win over Mawphu SC in Shillong on Saturday.
Jefferson Pakyntein starred with a hat-trick (16’, 32’, 57’), while Dibinroy Nongspung (4’), Ronaldkydon L Nonglait (44’) and Nikelson Bina (83’P) added to the tally. Banman Roy Nongsiej (54’) scored a consolation for Mawphu.
In Group E, Lumphyrnai Sohphoh FC secured qualification for the pre-quarterfinals with a 3-1 comeback victory over Lamyrsiang SCC in Wahiajer. After Eborki Marsharing (14’) put Lamyrsiang ahead, Phrangsngi Law (52’) and Sonowel Kharsati (79’, 81’) turned the match around. Lumphyrnai Sohphoh join Shillong Lajong FC in advancing from the group, though the top spot remains undecided.
Group D saw Ladthadlaboh SC avoid a last-place finish with a resounding 10-1 win over Jalaphet Moochut Pyrdung SC in Khliehriat. Sandeep Siangshai (7’, 16’), Andrew Nanghuloo (10’, 49’, 51’), Shanhok Siangshai (14’, 22’, 24’) and Wansa-oo Latoo (70’, 79’) led the scoring spree, while Tiyo Syrti (53’) netted for Jalaphet.
Mishon SSCC also registered a comfortable 3-0 win over Umlakro SC in Group F, with goals from Damanbhalang Ryntathiang (35’, 67’) and Mebanlambeit War (53’).
Elsewhere, two matches ended goalless, with Janepih YSCA held by Maram FC in Group G and Mawlarshong SC drawing with Mawten SC in Group H.
