Shillong, May 29: Students from across Meghalaya on Friday raised concerns over technical glitches, documentation problems and lack of awareness surrounding the Post Matric Scholarship (ST) scheme during a special interaction session held at Lok Bhavan in Shillong.
The programme brought together beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme, senior officials and students from various schools and educational institutions to discuss challenges faced in accessing government education support schemes.
Speaking at the session, CH Vijayashanker said many deserving students continue to miss out on scholarship benefits due to technical issues and inadequate awareness about available schemes.
He stressed the need for awareness workshops in colleges and universities across Meghalaya to help students better understand and access schemes offered by both the Union and State governments.
Vijayashanker also assured students that concerns raised during the interaction would be taken up with the Education Department and the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs to improve implementation of the scholarship programme.
Commissioner and Secretary R. Rapthap responded to queries related to the scholarship application process and assured students that efforts were being made to streamline the system and address genuine grievances.

He urged students to stay updated on official guidelines and procedures while applying for scholarships to avoid delays and application errors.
Officials said the interaction session was aimed at creating a direct platform for students to communicate their concerns with authorities and improve awareness about welfare schemes meant for Scheduled Tribe students.
During the programme, Vijayashanker also encouraged students to remain focused on their goals, citing the example of a young woman from Meghalaya who achieved her dream of climbing Mount Everest through determination and perseverance.
The session concluded with students welcoming the initiative and appreciating the opportunity to directly engage with government officials on scholarship-related issues.
