The Canadian senior men’s national team won’t be swapping its gaffer anytime soon.

Canada Soccer made sure of it, announcing on Monday that manager Jesse Marsch had been extended through the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

“From day one, I’ve felt a deep connection to this team, to this country, and to the direction of the program,” Marsch said in a statement. “I believe Canada has tremendous potential with this generation of players and look forward to seeing the development of soccer across the country. I’m thrilled to make a longer-term commitment here, to helping develop this program for years, and continuing to push this group to the highest level.”

Since taking over in 2024, Marsch has led Canada to 12 wins, 12 draws and five losses through 29 games. The team’s top achievement under his guidance came at the 2024 Copa América, where Canafa finished fourth in the program’s debut in the competition.

The men’s national team peaked at a program-record ranking of 26th globally in September 2025, climbing 24 places from 50th, when Marsch first took over.

“Jesse’s contribution as our men’s national team coach has been exceptional, both on and off the field,” said Kevin Blue, CEO and general secretary of Canada Soccer. He’s instilled a clear identity and raised the competitive bar for our team. We look forward to charting a longer-term course with Jesse as the head coach of our men’s program and thank the donors who are supporting his reappointment.”

Marsch’s next challenge with Canada Soccer rapidly approaches, as the gaffer is set to lead the red and white through the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which starts in a couple of weeks.

Canada’s first match will take place on home soil in Toronto, hosting Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12.
