After dropping Game 1, the visiting Canadiens rebounded with a big 5-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres in Game 2 on Friday to even the second-round series at 1-1.
Alex Newhook scored twice for the Canadiens, while Mike Matheson and Alexandre Carrier each potted their first goal of these playoffs. Montreal captain Nick Suzuki added an empty-netter to seal the victory for the visitors.
Zach Benson was the lone goal scorer for the Sabres.
The series will now shift to Montreal for Games 3 and 4.
Game 3 is set for Sunday with live coverage beginning on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 7 p.m. / 4 p.m. PT.
